I just sent this email out to everyone interested in the writing group. If you're interested, and you didn't just get this email, then I don't have your email address.... please send it to friscoplanowriters at yahoo.com. ;-)Hi everyone, First of all, thanks for your interest in the writing group! I appreciate you taking the time to email me a bit about yourselves and include some writing samples. I am really excited to get the group going again and welcome some new faces! I realize you might feel a little bit of trepidation regarding coming to a complete stranger’s home and sitting in a room with a bunch of other complete strangers. I hope you also realize that everyone else is in the same boat! Please know that this meeting will be a crucial one—we will go over some ground rules to establish respect and value for the writing done during the group. I can already say that we have a great and diverse selection of writers with varying backgrounds—and this will serve to really help all of us grow individually and as a group. Now—down to business. The first meeting will be Saturday, July 8th, at 1pm in my home in Frisco. See below for directions and my address/phone number. I would like to ask that you bring the following:--Notebook or laptop in which to write--Beverage of choice (I have filtered water)I really look forward to meeting you all. I think you’ll find this group to be an enriching experience. Thank you so much for your interest, and I will see you next Saturday!Best,Lindalee
I'm exhausted.I just spent the last 2 1/2 hours driving around-- I made a circle, starting at McKinney... down to Allen, then over to Plano, then back up to Frisco.I posted the flyers for writers group tonight. I meant to do it over the weekend, but there just wasn't time.Starbucks is good because they have community bulletin boards. A couple of other places do too, but I'm not sure if any other places might have 'em. Just thought I would post this here for anyone who might pass by. This is the community for the writing group I advertised recently.Writers:• Do you want a nurturing environment to build confidence in yourself and your writing?• Do you want to stretch your writing talents and skills?• Do you want your drafts critiqued?• Do you want to improve your writing in hopes of getting published? • Do you want to find your true writing voice?• Do you want to be in a group of dedicated writers who are committed to coming to the meetings and learning from each other? Then please join our writing group! We are writers with all types of backgrounds. We write screenplays, poems, stories, novels, romance, science fiction, essays, etc.We meet in Frisco, in my home, every other Saturday afternoon.Meetings include: readings from books geared towards the art and mechanics of writing, discussions, not-so-average writing exercises, and much more! Please email friscoplanowriters @ yahoo.com. Tell me a little bit about yourself, and include a brief writing sample (no more than 2 pages please). The next meeting is July 8th!(x-posted to dfwtx, dfw_lj, and northtx_lj_meet)
Hey all!For those of you who have been curious about writing group, but perhaps you've been tentative... you're not sure what it's all about, not sure if it's a right fit for you, not sure if you want to drive to Frisco every other Saturday... then now is your chance to join us for an open invitation. No requirements, no commitments. Just show up and we'll write together. You don't have to bring finished or in-progress work to exchange/pass out unless you *want* to. The only thing I ask is that you bring a notebook to write in, and a "writin' stick" as my dad says. This Saturday (Mar. 18), the meeting is from 1-3pm at my home in Frisco. If you're interested in coming, please email friscoplanowriters @ yahoo.com for my address. Thanks!

Hi, is this idea still ongoing and active? I live in Euless but will be moving back to North Dallas asap and can travel into it at any time. What's the average age of the people attending? I know all writers should be welcome but I'm not sure I could share with kids. What night do you guys meet and what are typical meetings like?
i forgot to mention that the purpose of using the songs to write descriptions-- is a tool you can use in the future, when you get "stuck" as to what a place should look like. of course, i have a lot of different kinds of music, so this may not work for everyone. i dunno... music always helps me see things more clearly, and i forget that it doesn't work that way for everyone. music can set a mood for me... it's incredibly powerful for me. but the purpose of that exercise was to see the difference of how music affects us and our ability to write, and our ability to see a scene and write it out... and how a song with the same words can lend a completely different result when the music is different.sometimes i feel the need or desire to explain what the exercises are for. especially with the music-- there is always a reason why i think it's good for us to do these exercises during the meeting... and i usually forget to share it. do you get it anyway? do i need to tell you the "why" or will it just come to you when you need it?this is something i often wonder.
